WHEN: May 2013
WHERE: Iowa, South Carolina
With 2014 about to begin, why not a post about May??
Keeping with the trend this year of "months behind reality", I am finally getting around to publishing another post. May seems like a looong time ago (okay, it was). It is a little difficult to recall what happened 7 long months ago. But it isn't going to get any easier the longer I procrastinate.
So, here we go...
May began with a visit to Iowa. Sadly, it was for my grandmother's funeral, but it also meant time to spend with our families. We always look forward to going home.

Yes, it was May and we were in Iowa. There was more snow on the ground than at times we have come home for Christmas. Our next trip to Iowa (in one week) had better be snowier than our last trip to Iowa!

High temps on May 4.
Highs failed to get out of the 30s the two days prior.

This is my dad's childhood hometown (Iowa Falls) - the hill he used to sled down as a child.

My "Gramma Betty" would have been 87 in May.
She was buried at the same cemetery as her husband, and many of our relatives. Most we did not know, but with the same (somewhat uncommon) last name and in a small town, we assumed we were all related.

My grandfather and grandmother's headstone
My grandmother lived in Phoenix, Arizona as long as I have been alive, and I always enjoyed our trips to see her. Many of times I thought I may even live there someday (and I still want to).

I will miss her laugh, the smell of her perfume, her sense of humor.

My last picture with her, when we visited Phoenix last year. It was my first trip to Arizona in six years. I am so thankful we were able to make the trip (as a family) last year.

Meeting friends in Iowa Falls
Mom and dad, aunt Mary (dad's sister) and uncle Leo, uncle Greg (dad's brother) and aunt Jeanne.
Watching some Disney princess movie with my only niece. Doesn't matter the movie, when your 4 year-old niece wants to snuggle up next to you on the couch. Looking forward to this with my own daughter/s someday.
And brother, Carter, playing with some of my childhood toys
Our nephew, Rhee, enjoying his playmates in my parents backyard
Niece and nephews, sharing my favorite childhood toys.

Whatta ya know, sleeping in the car again
Watching TV from another room, pant-less, eating goldfish out of a cup
Can never get enough of this...
...or this
Thankful for my dad. He, his dad, and me have all been employed at the Post Office.
Thankful for my mom, and that I still have her in my life.
Thanks for taking us to the airport, mom!

"All aboard!" (literally)
Flying on a weekday afternoon in May...wish every flight was this empty.
