WHERE: Charleston, South Carolina
We had 4 family vacations in 4 months this year, between April and July, and for my side of the family we saw each other every other month. It began with a trip to Virginia in April to meet my parents at Leta and Jay's. We met all of our family in Iowa in May, and finally my parents, Leta, Jay and our nephews visited us in Charleston in July. It was a parade of homes on a national level for our family this year. And now we're looking forward to seeing everyone again next week for Christmas. It is a lot easier writing these posts knowing we will see everyone next week, as opposed to writing a post right after everyone leaves.
Our family picture back in April.
We did not take many pictures during their visit to Charleston, except of the kids. I couldn't even find any pictures we have of my parents or my sister during their visit. That is something I hope to remedy this month, when we have everyone together again. I'm hoping for all kinds of pictures, of all combinations of family members. Check back in January for those. ;)

It was the third time we got to see Nick in 4 months. Frequency is so special at this age, when they grow up so fast.
You want me to do a trick, you say?
Hmm, let's see...maybe I can reach WAY down there and pick up that giant chew toy.
Almost got it...
Success!
(And I can't even walk yet.)

Mom and dad have their hands full with me!
Family in town - another chance to be tourists in our hometown.
King Street
College of Charleston
Reliable summer storms
Can't get enough of this
Hesitant to smile
Eager to explore

Her in blue. He in pink.
Trekking days through the wilderness...
...to behold the mighty Angel Oak! It was our third time seeing the tree and our first time bringing guests. It really is a sight to see in person...one of those things pictures can't do justice.
Sweetest princesses I ever did see
St. Philips Church
After a long day walking the hot and humid streets of downtown, a couple little boys (and adults) needed to head home for nap time!
Out!
Stacie and I kept Nick up past 10:00 the last night. We plopped him on our bed and gave him my old phone, which he played with for 20 minutes, as contently and happily as any toy of his. He was mesmerized.
Nick's attempt at calling...his girlfriend?
The sidewalk chalk art left on our patio by Rhee and Mimi, days after they left. We kept it there until the rain washed it away. Never easy to say goodbye, even to chalk. Thankfully, we will see everyone again very soon!
Keep the reunions coming. 2014...you have big shoes to fill.
