Dig This!

Today I came across what is probably the coolest (new) experience I've seen in a long time.  It's for any man who was once a boy.  Not that women cannot partake in this activity, but this activity is geared especially towards men.  Any male of any age could appreciate this and if they're honest, have probably wanted to do it all their lives.  Just check out the grown-men's boyish grins and giggles in the video below and see what I mean.

Ed Mumm, a native New Zealander, while renting an excavator to build his house in Colorado (and having so much fun with the machine), came up with this idea of allowing anyone a chance to play with real-life, life-size excavating equipment.  He made this idea a reality in 2007 by opening his business Dig This! in Las Vegas - an adults playground where you can "re-live your sandbox days".  If you're 14 or older and have $210 to spend, you can operate a full-scale excavator and/or bulldozer in an open lot (full of dirt).  It's a boy's childhood dream come to life.

I recently teased my family about getting me a $78,000, 8-day tour of Antarctica and the South Pole as a Christmas gift.  Maybe I should request this instead?  As the website suggests, the Dig This! experience is "20 tons of fun!"  :)

Ed's tentative plan is to open additional playgrounds in Atlanta, Orlando, and London. 
That's close(r), but hopefully he checks the market in Charleston first and opens the second playground here!
