A Visit to Charleston

WHEN: March 16-21, 2011
WHERE: Charleston, South Carolina

Stacie and I are very excited to have her parents visiting us this week in Charleston.  We have only lived here 7 months, so we're not what you'd call expert hosts.  Compounding that lack of knowledge is the fact that we moved here towards the end of summer (i.e. tourist season) so we ourselves have not got out a lot to experience Charleston.  Add to that that we live a good 30-45 minutes from most of the "tourist hot spots" and beaches, and Stace and I end up lacking a certain knowledge of what Charleston has to offer.

In light of that, and now in the shadow of hosting our first guests this week, I have been a researching fool this past week, asking others for ideas and probing the four corners of the web (because it is a square you know) for websites about Charleston and what there is to eat, tour, play, ride, see, attend...here.  So much so, that I figured I would write a post about what I've found; 1) for Stacie and I to use for future reference, 2) for us to use while her parents are in town, and 3) as a reference for anyone we know visiting Charleston.  There is also a reason number 4 that I have omitted which would just state the organizing obsessions of OCD that I exhibit.

By no means is this list comprehensive and I plan to add to it in the future, but it does highlight what Stace and I have already done and know about the city, what we've learned from others, and what I have been able to research this past week.  There are some great websites - which I will mention - that do present extensive information of certain topics.  However, I have mixed what I thought was the best of each for this post as well as added some of my own flare.  See post below, or click here.
